I am the mother of two beautiful daughters. While traveling with said daughters in the western part of the U.S. during the summer of 1999, we saw a sign that read “20 acre parcels for sale”. Stopping to just to look and dream, Jim and I ended up making an impulsive decision to purchase a 20 acre lot for “retirement property”. Well, the actual purchase never happened, but it sparked the discussion about what we wanted to do with the rest of our lives. Raise independent, functional adults, check. Work until we were 65, UNCHECK!!!. Live more, have less, check (for at least of one of us). Work less and have more freedom, check. Travel off the beaten path and see the natural beauty of this world with an emphasis on the United States…this mission has been in progress since that summer trip of 1999 and is getting ready to have the top blown off of it. So join me as we travel the road truly less traveled.
I grew up camping, hunting, fishing, backpacking and generally being outdoors every weekend. Camping for me has ranged from sleeping on the back of a truck under the stars to a motorhome and everything in between. I have traveled by air, water, foot, two wheels and four. Those experiences led to a desire to travel the “backcountry” via whatever means necessary. Being retired, now it’s time to get out and travel, hopefully in a big way! Some trips will be vehicle based, some will be the fly-in destination type. Follow along as we get out and see the world.
When not traveling I do vehicle modifications and camper build-ups on a part time basis. Some of what you see us using in the field is R&D for future projects.
